Another new road car event is available in the latest Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial, starting today and starring one of the new vehicles added in the 1.59 update earlier this morning.
New content is usually put to immediate use in scheduled events after an update, and that tradition continues as the returning Chevrolet Corvette (C5) Z06 heads out into the competition field in the time trials.
Having featured in every main GT game since Gran Turismo 3 — its first opportunity to do so — and even being spruced up into an additional “future-proofed” Premium vehicle for GT5 and GT6, it was a surprise that the car didn’t appear at all in GT Sport. That it’s also the final generation of Corvette for the complete set in GT7, three years in, is also something of a wonder, but it is here at long last.
It’s presented in its Z06 form, exclusively based on the notchback hardtop body and with significant changes to bring the weight down, bump the power up, and make it more at home on a racetrack. Handily that’s exactly what you’ll be doing as you attempt to throw the ‘Vette around Dragon Trail Seaside as fast as you can manage on Sports Medium tires.
The current record for that is a 1:47.985 — from GT World Series regular finalist and 2023 Manufacturers Cup champion Ryota Kokubun — and given that it’s half a second faster than the nearest rival that’s quite the initial marker.
It’s going to take some beating, but don’t assume it’s a safe record if you want the gold rewards. The target for that is currently 1:51.224, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it fall below a 1:51 by close of play.

The NSX event at Autopolis which began last week still has its final seven days remaining, and target times look like they’ve fallen right into the zone we were expecting.
A handful of drivers have broken through that 1:56 barrier, with the world record currently sitting at a 1:55.823. In turn, that sets the gold marker at a 1:59.297 and matching our estimate of at least a 1:59.2 being needed.
There is still plenty of time left for the record to fall though, so we’d recommend trying to get a tenth or so quicker for a bit more certainty — but there’ll always be someone zipping in during the final hours and carving a quarter of a second off…
In order to access the Online Time Trials, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. As it’s just you against the clock and not a direct, head-to-head multiplayer event, PlayStation Plus is not required.
You’ll usually need to be within 3% of the fastest time globally once the event finishes in order to secure “gold” status and a 2m credit bonus prize. There’s smaller prizes of one million for being within 5%, and 250,000cr for bronze at 10% off.
The events update every Thursday, with each individual challenge usually remaining available for two weeks and the oldest of the two events being replaced each week. You can look forward to the next new Time Trial arriving at 0700 UTC on Thursday May 22.
