A unique traffic-dodging event returns in the Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges this week, as they update over the coming hours when midnight passes in your local timezone.
Weekly Challenges are a set of five events for players to take on during a seven-day period, with a new set arriving every Friday morning. Four are drawn from existing races within World Circuits, with a range of vehicle performance and credit rewards, while there’s also a fifth “Special Event” created just for that week — which is a pity, as many would make excellent Bonus Menu Books.
You’ll need to place third or better in any given race to complete it, as with any event in GT7, and there’s bonus rewards that increase in value as you complete more of them.
This week’s lowest-value event comes in the Pickup Truck Race at the Daytona Tri-Oval. Despite the recent addition of two pick-up bodied vehicles — the Mercedes Unimog and Suzuki Carry — it’s only open to the two original vehicles, though you can tune your Ford F150 and Toyota Tundra to any level you like. The race is all over in five laps of the oval, with 30,000cr available for victory.
There’s an event which you might need to unlock if you haven’t already done so yet, with the Silvia Sisters round at Tokyo’s South Clockwise course. This event is open to any Silvia-chassis model — including the 180SX and SilEighty — and again in any state of tune, and you’re going to need to spruce up any car you use as there’s some potent rivals. Virtually any engine swapped car will do the trick, but there is only 45,000cr available for winning this three-lap race so it’s best to go with a ticket freebie.
Our special event is up next, as you’ll head out for four laps of the opposite Tokyo South configuration on the Counterclockwise track that involves the cargo container section. You can use any model Honda Civic (and the overkill Garage RCR car) for this race, but beware that six of the cars are non-Civic traffic comprising HiAce vans, a Toyota Prius, a Mazda Atenza, and a surprisingly quick Honda CR-V. Take care not to trip over these as you catch them up near the middle of the third lap, as contact will prevent you getting the Clean Race Bonus on the 88,000cr winner’s earnings.
The first of two six-figure races this week is the European Clubman Cup 600 at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. You can use any road car from any European manufacturer in any state of tune for this two-lap run, with 125,000cr on offer for taking the win; watch out for that fast-finishing Alfa Romeo though.
Finally we have a World Touring Car 900 event at Trial Mountain. This event, which also requires unlocking if you’ve not yet done so, is the only one this week with performance restrictions as there’s a Performance Point (PP) cap of 900PP. You’ll also want to watch out for pretty high tire wear over this ten-lap race which offers 160,000cr for victory.
There’s a little shake-up in the bonus rewards this week. For the third week in a row you’ll score a 100,000cr ticket for completing any one event and a 200,000cr ticket for finishing any three — which you’ll need to redeem from your Garage’s Gifts section to claim the cash — but the prize for completing the full set is a Six-Star Roulette ticket. This offers credit rewards of 500,000cr or 1,000,000cr, or a car from Brand Central worth 500,000cr or more (including Invitation cars).
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday June 13.
