According to a press release posted by Moroccan news outlet Express TV, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is coming in a future update to Gran Turismo 7.
The news, which has been teased by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi’s recent social media activity, confirms the swirling rumors that gained traction after Yamauchi was pictured with Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun and images from the Gran Turismo World Series event venue in London prominently feature the Xiaomi logo.
This partnership marks a significant milestone for the Gran Turismo franchise, welcoming a manufacturer from a nation with a rapidly evolving automotive industry.

“We are delighted to launch this partnership with Xiaomi,” said Kazunori Yamauchi in the press release. “What the company has achieved in such a short time is impressive: a smart, high-performance vehicle that seamlessly integrates into its integrated technology ecosystem. I was amazed by the SU7 Ultra’s experience, especially its achievements on the Nürburgring. It embodies the courage, curiosity, and passion we embrace at Gran Turismo.”
Echoing this sentiment, Xiaomi Group CEO Lei Jun stated, “We share Mr. Yamauchi’s vision: to improve lives through technology. We are excited that the SU7 Ultra will join the world of Gran Turismo, which is renowned for its precision and innovation. We hope that car enthusiasts everywhere will experience the capabilities of our intelligent electric vehicles.”

So, what exactly is the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra? It’s the halo car from a company primarily known for its dominance in the mobile phone and consumer electronics market. Born from a strategic pivot in 2021, Xiaomi Auto has made a dramatic entrance into the electric vehicle space. The SU7 Ultra is the pinnacle of their efforts, a high-performance electric sedan with some eye-watering numbers.

Powered by Xiaomi’s proprietary HyperEngine V8, the SU7 Ultra boasts 1,525hp and can achieve a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). It claims an acceleration time from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 1.98 seconds. The car’s construction heavily features carbon fiber, and it has undergone extensive testing at the Nürburgring where a prototype has already set records for an electric four-door sedan.

The press release also dropped another piece of information: the collaboration between Polyphony Digital and Xiaomi extends beyond the SU7 Ultra. The two companies are reportedly already at work on a Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo concept car.
While the confirmation of the SU7 Ultra’s inclusion in Gran Turismo 7 is exciting, the exact timing of its arrival remains under wraps. The press release indicates it will be part of an “upcoming update”, but there is nothing specific yet.
For now, all eyes turn to the Gran Turismo World Series event in London this weekend. With the partnership now out in the open, it’s likely we’ll get more details and perhaps even a release window. As always, keep it locked to GTPlanet for the latest news as it develops.
